New State Director - Dean Thompson

The board of directors for the Tennessee Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (TNHPCO) is pleased to introduce our new State Director, Dean Thompson.

A graduate and former class Valedictorian of Georgetown University, Dean brings to his new role more than a decade of legislative, media, and advocacy experience, having served as Communications Director, Legislative Director, and Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S. Representatives Peter Roskam and Diane Black. Dean also led investigations and audits of state and federal healthcare programs for the Congress as Director of Oversight for the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight.

In addition, Dean has served as a Director for the public affairs firm Glen Echo Group, developing industry coalitions and executing media and advocacy campaigns to shape favorable legislative and regulatory action for Fortune 100 companies and national trade associations.

Throughout his career, Dean has demonstrated an acute understanding of complex healthcare delivery models, payment systems, and innovation. He was deeply moved by personally experiencing the hospice care of a family member, and became passionate about advocating for the compassionate services that hospice and palliative care offer.

Dean makes his home in Nashville and is excited to begin working with TNHPCO to strengthen access to quality hospice and palliative care. We are delighted to add him to our team.

Please join us in welcoming Dean to this new role and feel free to reach out to him at dean@tnhpco.org.
